A hashtag is simply a word, string of words, or even a phrase, that is preceded by the hashtag symbol. It is used as a tool to get others searching for these hashtags to find any and all posts, pictures, or videos that contain the same hashtags.

Using the most popular searched words or something that’s trending will get more attention than some weird and creative idea you might have come up with. In this case, clever isn’t what will market a product, at least not quickly. It doesn’t seem like that would be the answer, but it’s best to understand that what isn’t fast and easy may never be seen by the majority. Instagram also has a small tool that, if you use a hashtag when posting a photo, it will show the number of times that particular one has been used, allowing for more mainstream or original content posting.

Sometimes too much isn’t a good thing. People don’t want to be overwhelmed by the amount of hashtags on a page. It might even turn a person off because it seems like too much boasting or just used to only grab attention. While you want to do this to a degree, you don’t want that to be a staple for a company.
