Does my business need SEO? If I’m paying an agency each month, what am I getting in return? Are writing blogs important? Should my website be performing better? Who do I trust?
If these questions are circling your mind prior to hiring a digital marketing agency, don’t worry, you aren’t the only ones….Thousands of businesses are constantly weighing up the pros and cons of outsourcing their digital marketing needs to an agency every day, and it becomes an increasingly difficult decision to make in such a volatile area of marketing.
We decided that it would be good for you to hear from one of our clients about all of the major questions you ask when you engage with a digital marketing agency. We interview Rosalie Mustica from Hotondo Homes and got her thoughts on things:
How long have you been outsourcing your digital marketing?
Rosalie: “We began outsourcing our SEO in 2014. We began outsourcing certain areas within our digital marketing over time depending on where certain developments were and what expertise we had internally. We landed on Clearwater Agency for all of our SEO and Conversion Rate needs and have never looked back.”
How did you first find out about Clearwater Agency?
Rosalie: “We reached out to Clearwater Agency after seeing their website as the #2 rank on Google back in 2016 (they were called Resolve Agency back then) and we thought anyone who was able to rank their website would be suitable for ranking ours. After contacting the team, they were extremely transparent about the campaign and the problem areas in our existing SEO strategy and gave us realistic expectations from the beginning, meaning we had a really good idea of how the campaign would play out going forward.”
Is it scary getting someone to do SEO for you?
Rosalie: “No not at all, SEO is such a complex area in digital marketing so it’s great to have experts to go to for assistance with this. It’s also been great for our internal team to help build our own knowledge of SEO and what can implicate results such as web design, meta titles, content, etc. We find comfort in knowing that we have experts taking care of these campaigns for us that can provide guidance and advice on where we can improve and if we’re ever unsure of anything, we can always pick up the phone and ask.
The other reason we aren’t phased by an agency running our SEO is that we have a large number of locations we operate in and a lot of members of Hotondo Homes to look after, so having the freedom to focus on businesses processes and not on the digital marketing tools means we can be more productive day to day, which is a really big bonus for us.”
What are some of the advantages you have found using a digital marketing agency?
Rosalie: “The obvious advantage is improved results, which is what anyone would expect when outsourcing a particular area to an external party, but this isn’t always the case. I have had experience with a few agencies now and a lot of them talk the talk, but can never deliver on what they’ve promised on and this is always a struggle. After using Clearwater Agency, we saw a big spike in rankings and this directly improved our organic traffic which was communicated effectively to us as a business.
The other advantages are things like having support behind us to pick up the phone when we have queries or worries and it’s also great to have someone who can assist with strategic level thinking and bounce ideas off when we are looking to grow as a company and improve on all aspects of our marketing.”
What advice do you have for other businesses who are looking to expand their digital marketing efforts?
“Digital marketing is evolving faster than anyone can keep up with. It’s now a fundamental function of any marketing strategy whether you’re a start-up business or major global enterprise. If you don’t have the expertise to execute your digital strategy solely, then it is well-worth outsourcing it to an agency who know exactly what they’re doing. But it’s not something you can just set and forget. Work with your agency to build your own understanding of digital marketing, whatever element it may be in, and then you can truly work together to improve your brand’s performance. When it comes to finding the right agency, make sure the team you work with has a thorough understanding of your business structure and layout, and are going to offer you the support you need to achieve your marketing goals.
Also if you want a recommendation, Clearwater agency do a great job so make sure you reach out to them first!”
